What does the color of sea glass mean?

I’ve always been interested in the different colors of sea glass, so I decided to look into whether the colors had any special meanings. And I found out that they did, and more than I expected. In this post, I will share with you what I have learnt.

Blue Sea Glass

Let me start with blue sea glass. Blue sea glass carries a symbol of peace. Blue sea glass encourages us to find quiet stillness and discover tranquility even through the challenges of life.

It’s a reminder to pause, take a breath, and find peace through life’s constant ups and downs. Blue sea glass acts like a guide, reminding us to look for peace during tough times and come out stronger on the other side.

Green Sea Glass

Sometimes you might feel like a fresh start. Green sea glass can be your best friend during these times. I’ve learnt that green sea glass stands for new beginnings. All about growth, making a fresh start, and having new chances, just like plants growing after winter.

green sea glass color meaningFor me, it means getting another shot and letting go of old stuff. It’s like saying yes to a hopeful future. Whenever I want some positivity and hope, I keep an eye out for sea glass when I’m at the beach which I feel is a signal that I am making the right move.

Green sea glass now reminds me that we can be the same as nature, beautiful and strong. It tells me that there’s always room to begin again. When I find a piece of green sea glass, it’s like a sign of hope and starting over in my life, no matter what it is that I am going through.

Yellow Sea Glass

This happy color is all about joy and optimism, reminding us to enjoy life.

Whenever I find yellow sea glass, it’s like a burst of energy mixed with positivity. I found that yellow sea glass is often linked to the sun, representing life and vitality. People believe it can bring luck and success if you’re lucky enough to find it. I recall finding my very first piece of yellow sea glass, and it was at Seham Beach near Durhum. The weather wasn’t too good but it did get even worse. There are some steps at Seaham that lead down to the beach and small cliff coves, a handy shelter if the weather got really bad, and really bad it did.

I sat under the cliff coves at the bottom of the steps looking out at the storm. Picking up small pebbles flicking them just in front of me. It was then I found my very first piece of yellow sea glass. I have to admit, often what they say is true, and it did pick me up and gave me a positive feeling, and enough energy back up the stairs to head home! A moment that makes me smile to this day.

It’s said to be connected to creativity and inspiration. In some cultures, it’s also a symbol of friendship and celebration, which also makes it a perfect gift for close friends.

Its sunny meaning will brighten my day and remind me to hold on to the positive moments that life gives us.

Purple Sea Glass

As I was learning about the colors of sea glass, I found that one of the rarest colors was purple. Its rarity sparked my curiosity and made me wonder about its hidden meanings. I found that among the other colors of sea glass, purples are often linked to spirituality and mysticism, although this often holds different interpretations. Some see it as a sign of fortune and protection, while other people see it as a source of inspiration and creative thinking.

What makes purple sea glass even more interesting is where it comes from. Unlike other sea glass that comes from broken bottles or glassware, purple sea glass is believed to have originated from 20th-century stained glass windows  These windows were made using dioxide, which gets a tint when exposed to sunlight over time.

As these windows aged and deteriorated, pieces found their way into the ocean. Through many years, they became the pieces of seaglass that continue to overwhelm those lucky enough to find them.

Red Sea Glass

The warm color of red sea glass is a reminder of strength, love, and desire. Red sea glass is also a reminder to hold on to your dreams and follow them with determination. Many believe that carrying red sea glass gives them the power to be able to move closer to their goals and be able to overcome any obstacle that may get in the way of their path.

Red sea glass is also believed to be linked to creativity, encouraging you to think outside the box and discover your artistic talents. If you come across a red gem on the shore, let it remind you to embrace passion, and energy, and live life with love and determination.

Conclusion

Sea glass comes in colors each carrying its unique symbolism and significance. The tranquil blue sea glass represents serenity, calmness, and inner peace. It serves as a reminder to slow down and take a moment to appreciate the beauty surrounding us.
